This fire alarm permit is to extend an existing manual fire alarm system into the addition. The system is to include new remote power supplies (NAC panels), a remote annunciator, a relocated pull station, full notification, HVAC shutdown/monitoring, In-duct detectors for f/s damper shutdown, relocated modules for existing sprinkler system monitoring; alarm, trouble, and supervisory connections to a preaction system panel in the server room (the actuating smoke detectors are connected to the releasing system panel and are not part of the fire alarm system), heat detectors located at Library Office 133 and the double door entry for actuation of a deluge system water curtain, a relay for server room f/s damper shut down upon activation of the preaction system, and relays and detection devices for elevator recall functions.

Associated building permit: BLD10-01853 Concordia University - To construct a 32,565 square foot, three story addition on the west side of an existing 17,565 square foot, two story building. The interior of first floor of the existing building will be entirely demolished, with the exception of the existing accessible restrooms, shower room, mechanical, electrical and copy/fax rooms. The remaining portion of the existing first floor will be remodeled for 6 foot library book stacks, reading areas, small offices, study rooms and library circulation desk and work areas. The existing mezzanine will be expanded to create a 5,310 square foot second floor that will be used primarily for 6 foot book stacks. This second floor area will also contain a small reading area, small conference room, IT Tech area and three small shared study rooms. The first floor of the new addition will contain two large classrooms, a large waiting area, accessible restrooms, two small study rooms, and four storage areas for various types of storage. The second floor of the new addition will contain four classrooms of varying sizes, a student lounge, a faculty lounge, two accessible restrooms, a chapel, four small conference rooms, a mechanical room and four storage rooms. The third floor of the new addition contains primarily administrative and faculty offices, with one classroom, two large accessible restrooms and unisex accessible restroom. This floor also contains a mechanical room and janitor closet. The foundation was constructed under building permit BLD10-01393. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list. JCM

Provide record of inspection and testing including a list of signals per fire code review notes. See also items # 2,3, 7, and 33 on review comments. Post accurate map at the panel. Field modifications including two additional ID, 14 relay modules for AHU shutdown, 4 fire sprinkler monitor modules, and 3 DH to be shown on resubmital plans and matrix as discussed.
