The Fire Sprinkler Scope of work consists of adding fire protection to two new wing extensions on the west side of the school. The end fitting on the branch lines are being removed, and the branch lines are being extended. There is also an area where the bathroom head is being relocated. The existing sprinklers are being armed over and new sprinklers are being added as required in this area. All new sprinklers to be quick response type.

Extended coverage sprinklers are based on a maximum of 18’x18’ spacing minimum for upright sprinklers is 8’ and minimum for pendent sprinklers is 9’

Building Department Scope:

Grace Jordan Elementary School - classroom addition - To construct a 5,623 square foot, one story classroom and restroom addition at the west end of an existing 59,007 square foot elementary school. The addition is constructed of masonry exterior walls with wood framed roof trusses and metal interior stud walls, to match existing school construction. One portion of the addition consists of a 3,298 square foot addition on the northwest wing of the building which will have two new classrooms and two new accessible restrooms. The other portion of the addition consists 2,325 square foot addition at the southwest wing of the school which will have two new classrooms. This permit also includes related site improvements. The original school building was completed in 2009 under building permit BLD07-00143. All construction per the approved plans and attached comment list. JCM

Sprinkler piping can be covered. The branchline tie-ins are not completed but will be verified from the mechanical mezzanine at the final inspection. Also sprinkler coverage will be required under the duct work on the mechanical mezzanine as discussed.
