This fire alarm permit is to extend the existing fire alarm system in to the remodeled area. A new NAC panel is being provided to accommodate the new notification devices. New initiating devices are to be tied in to the existing signal line circuit. No new HVAC shutdown is indicated on the plans. If duct or in-duct detectors are provided or required, a plan modification shall be required prior to calling for a final inspection.

Associated building permit: BLD11-00450 (CAPITOL HIGH SCHOOL – Administration Remodel – Sprinkler Upgrade) Permit is to remodel an existing 5,214 square foot administration office area and continue the existing sprinkler system into this area. This building is partially fire sprinklered there is an outline attached to this permit to show the intent to have the building fully spinklered in phases over the next 5 years. Approval contingent upon adhering to the approved plans on file. Work to include: demolition of non-combustible full height partition walls, and installation of new non-combustible full height partition walls, new lighting / switching, new accessible doors / hardware, installation of new mechanical units and duct work, minor plumbing, and finishes in compliance with chapter 8 of the 2006 IBC. This building is partial Fire Sprinklered with an approved Fire Alarm system. Any alterations or modifications to the buildings Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm system WILL REQUIRE A SEPARATE PERMIT and shall be installed per NFPA 13 & NFPA 72 as regulated by the Boise Fire Department. **TLW**

NOTE: The existing audible notification was not required to be temporal code. For this remodel, the new audible devices are allowed to maintain the existing constant tone, provided the devices are capable of being changed to temporal in the future (dB requirements still apply). The new notification devices shall be synchronized where required by NFPA 72 within the scope of work; however, the new devices are not required (however recommended if at all possible) to be synchronized with existing notification devices outside the scope of work.

Permit finaled. The EOL was 2/10 of a volt outside the allowed minimum voltage. Since the panel is going to be replaced in two days it was agreed to allow this temporary condition.

An additional strobe is required in Office 116. Also we could not verify EOL voltage due to the panel not operating when AC power is turned off. A fire watch will be required until the panel is repaired or replaced. I spoke to Charlie with SimplexGrinnell about this and gave him the phone number to contact the fire chief.
