Description
This quick permit scope is to provide in-duct detectors to shut down new dampers. The new in-duct detectors will be placed on an existing zone that contains smoke detectors. The existing smoke detector does trigger elevator recall, however the zone does not. The in-duct detectors are not to trigger elevator recall functions. This is approved with the understanding that the in-duct detectors are to be an alarm and not a supervisory function and shall initiate any notification in the building (if applicable). Fire and smoke dampers shall be provided with an approved means of access, large enough to permit inspection and maintenance of the damper and its operating parts. The access shall not affect the integrity of fire-resistance-rated assemblies. The access openings shall not reduce the fire-resistance rating of the assembly. Access points shall be permanently identified on the exterior by a label having letters not less than 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) in height reading: FIRE/SMOKE DAMPER, SMOKE DAMPER or FIRE DAMPER. Access doors in ducts shall be tight fitting and suitable for the required duct construction. There are no written review comments. Associated building permit: BLD11-00894 (METAGEEK – Jefferson Place – Ste# 300) Permit is to combining suite 300 with suite 304 to create a 6,787 square feet office space. PLAN MODIFICATION 6-5-11 – Modification submitted to upgrade non-compliant corridor. **TLW** This building is fully fire sprinklered for area increase. Approval contingent upon adhering to the approved plans on file and plan review report. Work to include: installation / demolition of interior partition walls, installation of new lighting, installation of new doors / accessible hardware, and finishes in compliance with chapter 8 of the 2009 IBC. This building is fully Fire Sprinklered with an approved Fire Alarm system. The induct detectors and dampers operated correctly and reported to the fire alarm panel as alarm at zone 14. The problem is per the monitoring company no signals have been received on this account since september of 2010. I let Tom Gainer with Boise Fire about the situation.
