The fire sprinkler scope of work consists of providing protection for the first level of an existing building and a new addition. The existing has existing protection in the attic and basement. The new building will have the protection on the first level and in the attic. Several attic areas are protected with small antifreeze systems. The attic system in the new building utilizes special application sprinklers both single directional and back to back. Large orifice extended coverage sprinklers with 20’x20’ spacing are being used in various locations. The systems are supplied by 4” underground piping through a 4” reduced pressure backflow preventer. There are 4” and 3” mains. The branch lines are predominately 1¼”. The insulation is on the roof deck in the new addition. Therefore, the attic fire protection is a wet pipe system. The existing building fire protection will be connected to the new system. The underground was installed under permit FIR12-00205.
