(THE EMPIRE BUILDING) This building will be fire sprinkered under the provisions of the 1994 UCBC to allow it to be 2 stories and 26 feet too tall. To upgrade an existing building to comply with NFPA 13, 1996. The structure is including a new full height 2-hr noncombustible stair enclosure, modifications to the existing full height stairway, masonry shear walls in the basement, concrete moment frames on the first floor at the South and East exterior walls, masonry pillars in the basement to support the first floor concrete moment frames, floor/roof infills on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors, wall infills at the West wall, a modified bitumen roof membrane, a Class I standpipe system, and a new mechanical well on the roof all per approved drawings, engineering, and plan review conditions on file. A demo permit was issued earlier. The fire sprinkler system to comply with NFPA 13-1996 as regulated by the Fire Department. PC-685-99 DRH99-0163/DRH99-0164 **JWA**
