(BELMONT PLAZA – SHELL AND CORE – OLD K-MART BUILDING) (CZC17-00130) The fire sprinkler system is used for unlimited area of the building AND to allow 3-hr fire barrier walls in lieu of fire walls. The fire sprinkler system is NOT allowed to be used for building area increase for A Occupancies. To do some shell and core work to an existing 83,904 square foot building in anticipation of future tenants. Work is to include structural modifications to the roof (beams and joists) to support roof top HVAC equipment, new openings in exterior masonry walls with new 2-hr steel beams or lintels supported by new 2-hr steel columns and concrete footings, new storefront glazing and entrance doors, new egress doors and overhead doors, 3-hr fire barrier walls per the 2012 IEBC in lieu of fire walls to create separate buildings, interior nonbearing walls, 4 toilet rooms accessible to the disabled, and an assisted-use toilet room accessible to the disabled. Special Inspection is required for welding and for anchors post installed in hardened concrete (epoxy and/or expansion). The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. This permit is for shell and core work only. This permit is not intended to establish a Certificate of Occupancy for any tenant or for any portion of this building. Each tenant is required to apply for their own permit to do tenant improvement work and to establish occupancy. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 (including quick-response heads in light-hazard occupancies) and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
