Recieved pump report from fire pump rep., stating the results from pump test on 6/17. Report indicated that 150% test could not be performed. I informed Jeff (Shilo) that we would require the pump rep. conduct the next test to ensure that the pump is operating correctly, and that flows at the 150% of pump capacity can be obtained.

Initial fire pump test, witnessed by Tom Walsh and Tim Frost. Test was conducted at various flows, including no flow, 1000gpm and attempted to conduct 1500 gpm test, but could not flow this portion of the test, due to pressure regulator installed after the pump. NOTE: Pump test will have to beconducted/ witnessed again when the generator and fire alarm systems interface is completed.

Spoke with Tom Easton today. I reminded him that a construction standpipe was required. I also express a concern in regards to the heat taping not being installed. He aggreed the standpipe would be temporarily supplied by dry standpipe connect.

Email from Romeo regarding fire pump room location and heat tracing system.
Mona,
I have reviewed some documentation provided by Angie and it does appear that this location was supported previously. I still think the location is poor and fire department access to the pump room may be impaired in an emergency condition but will respect the previous determination. As this is a departure from the adopted code (NFPA 13, 4.12.2.1.1) we will need to have an AMMR submitted for the pump room location. I would prefer if the AMMR came from the Fire Protection Engineer as the argument for the location seems to be based upon the active fire protection systems in the building and ability of those systems to maintain a safe path to the fire pump.
Also, Tim Frost, the sprinkler plan reviewer brought a design choice to my attention with regards to proposed sprinkler system. The current design proposes to use heat trace to protect a rather large section of supply piping in the facility. While this is not prohibited by NFPA 13, you may want to review this choice. If you do chose to continue use of the heat trace I would recommend adding it to your standby power system to ensure the heat tracing remains operational during a power loss situation.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Romeo P. Gervais, P.E
