[St. Alphonsus Rehabilitation Hospital]
The fire sprinkler scope of work consists of two new wet systems supplied by 6” underground, 4” backflow preventer and 4” header. Both systems are designed as grids. Extended coverage sprinklers are being utilized for corridor protection. The building has steel structural members therefore only pendent protection is required.
• The underground piping is under permit FIR18-00607

(ST. ALPHONSUS REHABILITATION HOSPITAL – NEW BUILDING) (DRH17-00423 and DRH18-000138) (CAR17-00017 and CUP17-00060) (Project Management-Ron Hill) The fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and building area increase. To construct a 49,821 square foot one story rehabilitation hospital with 40 sleeping units located near the Southwest corner of the intersection of Emerald Street and Curtis Road. Every sleeping unit including the associated toilet/shower room, except for the bariatric toilet/shower rooms, is required to comply as an “accessible unit” for the disabled. Work is to include reinforced concrete footings (continuous and spot), reinforced concrete monolithic stem walls and slabs on grade, protected exterior slab edge insulation, reinforced concrete piers, steel columns with steel base plates, steel braced frames, steel beams, open web steel bar joists, steel roof deck, steel roof top mechanical screen walls, membrane roof covering over rigid insulation, primary and secondary roof drains, steel stud exterior nonbearing walls, sandstone exterior veneer, EIFS, exterior metal panels, exterior windows, exterior doors, metal sun shade awnings, interior nonbearing walls, interior doors, interior windows, a 2-hr fire barrier wall to function as a horizontal exit, 1-hr smoke barrier walls to create smoke compartments, I-2 rated corridors, a Type I grease hood and duct system, a grease trap, millwork, and interior finishes. Activities that require Special Inspection include soils, concrete, masonry, steel (including welding and bolting), and anchors post-installed in hardened concrete. The concrete floor slab will be recessed at the walk-in cooler and freezer and at floor tile areas. In addition, a 7-foot-tall masonry trash enclosure with plaster finish and tube steel gates, a 17-foot-tall masonry emergency generator enclosure with plaster finish and steel louvers, a 17-foot-tall masonry bulk oxygen enclosure with plaster finish and steel louvers, and a therapy garden with an elevated pavilion structure will be constructed. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any installation work on such systems. **CJW**
